As always, Saturday, the boyfriend and I have date night. With both of us super busy with work commitments through the week, we don’t see each other as much as we would like. So Saturday is our day and it is usually filled with shopping, coffee food & pornstar martinis.

This week we went to one of my favourite restaurants in Manchester – Gusto. I love everything about this restaurant, the ambiance, customer service, food and cocktails. Italian is my favourite food, anything pasta, pizza, garlic and I’m all over it. I don’t eat meat, so finding restaurants with variety is super hard – there is only so much Penne al’arrabiata one can eat + margherita pizza has become a drag.

Gusto do a lovely choice of vegetarian dishes, I opted for the hand-made artichoke tortellini with crispy artichokes, mushrooms and butter sauce, it was so, so nice! Such a change from the standard tomato and basil pasta I’m usually left with. I’d love to make it myself (although I’m unsure how tasty that would be).

We also had a range of cocktails all priced around £8.50 + totally worth it.

The desert had to be my favourite part of the night, I love chocolate, strawberries and cherries so the chocolate fondue for two was perfect.

Not only did the food satisfy, the customer service was brilliant and we didn’t have to wait for our courses or for the plates to be cleared away. The staff were very assertive and made the effort to make sure we had enough drinks throughout the night.

Overall the night was a blast… If anyone finds themself in Manchester and likes Italian food then Gusto is a great choice. Although Gusto restaurants are located throughout the country, it doesn’t feel like your average chain restaurant. The place is full of character, has a lovely contemporary setting and the food and cocktails are very well presented and cooked/made.
